2007 Mitolo Savitar Shiraz

Ben Glaetzer and his delightful wife stopped in briefly in between Radius and Blue ginger, and in a rather quick half hour with them, I tasted a sextet of striking wines from Mitolo, his partnership with grower Frank Mitolo in McLaren Vale.
The most open and impressive last week was the 2007 Savitar Shiraz, which is the sole Mitolo wine from Barossa. it was denser and more structured than the McLaren Vale wines, but compared with many other Barossa’s showed a degree of finesse and was relatively light on its feet, a graceful elephantine ballerina. Arrives Friday in limited quantity
