The secret of making fine eaux de vies, the distilled essences of fruit, has for centuries been closely guarded among a few old European families. Some twenty years ago Steve McCarthy set up Clear Creek near Portland, Oregon to challenge that monopoly. Since then he has gotten international recognition as one of , if not the best distiller in America.
In this sit-down tasting you can taste some of the worlds best known spirits with their maker. There will be eaux de vie - Poire Williams (how do they get that big pear in the bottle?) Pomme (Apple) aged 8 years in french Limousin oak; , Kirchwasser, (cherry brandy), and one Europe can’t do - Eau de Vie of Douglas Fir.
There will also be a Cassis Liqueur, a Grappa, and Steve’s answer to Islay Whiskey, his very limited McCarthy’s Oregon Single Malt.
Steve McCarthy distills in European pot stills the best from Mother Nature (fruits , barley and trees). He grows his own pears and apples and where he has to, sources only the best quality fruit. In every batch he distills, in every bottle he makes, he puts his passion, his heart and soul.
This is a great opportunity to taste a line - up of spirits that are famous world wide but are not exposed enough in restaurants and bars here so people have the chance to try and enjoy.
All of Clear Creeks Spirits are exquisite on their own, but bartenders and chefs can use them in creations from desserts and cocktails.
Take a couple of hours and taste some wonderful spirits and meet the man whose passion shows in the glass.
There will be some light food to enjoy also. Limited Seating.
Advance Ticket Price $39.00 Before Sep. 20th.-
Price $49.00 the week of the event, if not sold out
