Rosina Sisters

Years ago, Gavi di Gavi was one of the best-known Italian white wines. Its reputation sank under the weight of a profusion of insipid wines.

But examples like the La Mesma Indi Gavi di Gavi are helping to resurrect the reputation of Gavi.

Eric Asimov - New York Times

Having just tasted a range of La Mesma’s current releases, I heartily agree.

The Rosina sisters, Paola, Francesca, and Anna, emphasize both organic farming and biodiversity in the vineyard. In the winery, they take a minimalist approach, using a pied de cuve (indigenous yeast they produce from their grapes) to initiate spontaneous fermentation.

This natural approach results in a wine with intoxicating aromatics, round honeyed texture, and sumptuous fruit notes that explode in the glass. It’s a wine often imitated but never duplicated, as it's a true Italian white wine gem.

Aroma: Ripe apple, peach, citrus blossom, green herbal tea, English wildflower garden. Mouth: Gala apple, melon, apricot, briny lemon citrus, hint of almond, crushed seashell minerality, medium acidity, and a medium plus finish.

A great pairing for fish like branzino, sole, halibut and haddock.
